About this attraction

Reiver Productions are based in the Scottish Borders, and specialise in - but are not restricted to - heritage productions and the filming of historical re-enactments.

“Bringing the Heritage of the Borders alive”

Our aim is to bring Borders heritage to life through the medium of digital video.

Reiver Productions is intending to produce films depicting the local areas involvement in the battle of Flodden (September 1513), the local skirmish at Hornshole (1514) and the Hawick's resistance to the depredations of the Border Reivers, which occurred in the sixteenth century

Reiver Productions is currently shooting a fictional story, “John Turnbull’s Wager,” based on a very important but neglected aspect of the Border Reivers character.  Filming has started and is going well.

Also at an early pre-production stage are projects dealing with Mary Queen of Scots and her ride to Hermitage which involves a controversial twist to the tale and the story of Sir James Douglas and King Robert the Bruce's heart.

Also at the marketing stage is a project called:

THE REIVER EXPERIENCE

“Living in the Past in the Present”

Become a Reiver for a day

Experience what it was like to go on a Border raid dressed in a steel breastplate, helmet, sword and lance, riding on a Border raiding pony across the Border Marches.

Release Your Ancestral Memory

Allow your ancestral skills to come to life as you avoid enemies who will be looking out for you and possibly lying in ambush.

Experience the “Hot Trod”

Enjoy the thrill of the chase as you head back home after a successful raid with the enemy in hot pursuit (the “hot trod”).

The Day of Truce

Meet with opposing clans during “A Day of Truce,” and try to avoid causing further clan dispute if the merriments get out of hand and an opposing clan member tries to start a fight with you!

Wine and Dine Reiver Style

Finish the evening in the surroundings of a Border Tower and dine on steak, mutton, mead, beer and wine as you listen to balladeers recite songs from this
Ancient Borderland.

And the video.

The whole experience will be videoed for you and you can buy a copy to keep for posterity and to view when you need to re-live the life style of your Reiver ancestors!
