Vivian Wade Various Artists from Gala Resource Centre A joint exhibition between Gala Resource Centre and Vivian Wade who is a Selkirk based artist.
Vivian describes her work as autobiographical. Her bright abstract acrylics chart her journey from inner chaos and bipolar disorder (manic depression) to a more peaceful place reached through her Christian faith.
Artists from the Gala Resource Centre explore Art as a therapeutic source for people experiencing issues with their mental health. The Art Group at the Centre have discovered Art as a means of promoting self-expression, self–development, creative exploration and fun.

Collected Works
James Henderson 1908-2007
Giving a flavour of the artwork of James Henderson who was Principal Teacher of Art at Galashiels Academy from 1935-49. Along with his wife and fellow artist Nan, he helped to found the Galashiels Art Club. Importantly too, he was one of the group which rescued historic Old Gala House from demolition.

Carole Fulton
Taking inspiration from the Borders countryside around her Selkirk studio, these works on paper are part of Carole’s continuing exploration of the dynamic forms within our landscape. With emotive accents of colour, the drawings capture the complexity and transient beauty of the natural world.

Paintings and prints from this Selkirk-based artist, with particular focus on the landscape of the Western Isles and the space and light found there. Fluid abstract works balanced with graphic notation from music and maps explore the theory of ‘geopoetics’.

Discover a fascinating story of how the Nazis had the town of Galashiels in their sights. Investigate how the town planned for a WW2 Nazi bombing raid. Explore the WW2 Anderson Shelter and see extensive eclectic collections and archives from the Old Gala Club.

Past-time Passions
A chance to see some rarely shown artifacts drawn from the Borders Museums collection. Each object has been hand-made by local artisans, developing remarkable skills in their spare
time. From working shepherd’s crooks and ships in bottles, to intricate textiles and Fine Art, this eclectic show will delight all tastes.

Galashiels Camera Club – 75th Anniversary
A collection of photographs celebrating the anniversary of this well established club which was formed in May 1934. Camera Club meetings were regularly held here at Old Gala House and this will be a welcome return in their 75th year.

Ancient Egyptians Activity Room
An educational exploration of Ancient Egypt. Journey back in time to the pharaohs and discover the remarkable collection of Ancient Egyptian pots, some over 3,000 years old, plus other Egyptian items from the Scottish Borders Museum collection on show.
