About this attraction

The largest inhabited house in Scotland and home to the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe, this magnificent edifice is a treasury of sumptuous tapestries, porcelain and 17th century French furniture and artwork.

The extensive parkland and gardens overlooking the River Tweed provide a variety of wooded walks. The garden centre and Victorian walled gardens contain splendid herbaceous borders and kitchen garden produce. In the outer walled garden a parterre to commemorate the Millennium can be seen. An excellent children’s playground and picnic area are very close to the castle.
